I have nothing useful to say. Fortunately, there are smarter people than me on the internets.
- News video in which we find out that, previous to this law, there has been only one place to get an abortion in SD, and the only doctor who performs the procedure flies in once a week from Minnesota. Also, legislators say reprehensible things.
- Bitch PhD post where that came from.
- Digby engages with an anti-choice blogger. Old arguments, but well stated.
- Amanda at Pandagon picks up where Digby leaves off, and says smart things.
But I would argue with you in the kindest way, that YES, you do! Have something to say! Profoundly useful, no matter how hard it might feel to articulate.
It would mean a lot to your readers, and draw up your own reserves. It feels so lonely and ugly out there right now, reading the mainstream media's indifference or "business as usual" attitude about it all. I find myself looking all over the Web for people who can put into words things I am struggling to say, stories that make it matter.
So although I am tempted to cut my tongue out and send it on a platter to Gov. Rounds, I'm goign to try to keep talking, and I hope you will too, when you catch your breath.
And, you don't have to be yakking loud, let your fingers do the yelling with a googlebomb I've started. If we get enough people to link to this guy with the same words, "Sexist Asshat," not only will anyone searching on that phrase get his legislative site with contact info, we can start building better community, find out who's out there, feel like we've started the ball rolling with a collective voice, and maybe get a little coverage.
sexist asshat, Senator William M. Napoli.
