Brief Beer Reviews

A lot of blog systems have a way for you to write an email to the system, which it will then translate into a post. I was not aware that TBND had such a feature. Turns out we do, and it's me.

Says Tony:

Todd pointed out that the English can drink. Unfortunately, they have poor taste in beer. I entered the bar in Heathrow with a few aims:

  1. Order an English beer
  2. Get the (English) beer with the highest ABV
  3. Get something on draught.
  4. Don't spend more than £3.50
Ultimately, that landed me with Fuller's, which was not a total disappointment, but not as good as one would expect beer abroad to be.

I'll (hopefully) post soon with more info on my travels, which are (for once) taking me to some interesting shores.

The email-post system -- with its sophisticated language comprehension system -- responds, "What, Vienna wasn't sufficiently interesting? Prick."

Comments:
Furthermore, WTF do you expect in an airport bar? The last beer I had at an airport (O'Hare) I had a choice between Bud Light and some local brand that tasted disgusting.

Fair enough, but this is the airport bar in London. (Also, surprising that O'Hare was that bad; the selection in Midway is small, but at least you can get a Guinness or a Smithwick's. Wonder what that local brand was, Goose Island? Anyway.) And they did have at least a dozen draughts to choose from, but not much that was English or looked to be any good. Really, I think I was just disillusioned with English beer, for all this talk of them being beer drinkers.

Meanwhile, Lebanese beer = tasty and almost as cheep as water. Similar in taste to your average German Pils, but damn refreshing in hot weather.

tony, where all are you going/have you been?

my roommate in miami was lebonese, and very slick with the ladies. We called him Lebo Suave.

Actually, yeah, that may have been it. I'm not sure.

Meanwhile, I finally got to try this Chimay with which you are so reluctant to part. That is some tasty shit.
