A Bleg No One Will Heed
But I'm making it anyway. My sister and I are planning to drive to Chicago with our mom later this month, for the first time in 3 years, also making it the first time we'll have iPods to liven up the journey (I got mine the January after our last holiday cross-country road trip). So I wanted to see what suggestions people have for ways of playing iPods in cars. The Corolla in question has a tape player, so a cassette adapter is the most obvious way to go, but no one seems to make a combo tape adapter/power adapter to ensure that iPods will remain powered over the 12-hour journey. I would be inclined to buy MacAlly, as I've used their products before (and they're not as expensive as some other options), but I would be open to advocates of other brands. Also, I've used radio transmitters in the past, and was not greatly disappointed with their performance (plus it would be usable in a wider range of cars than the tape adapter), but complaints of signal loss and static have me hesitant to go that route. What do the people think?[pP]>throne maker v2

I prefer the cassette adapter to the radio transmitter. Combined with a car lighter ipod power adapter, we could listen to the iPod forEVER![pP]>throne maker v2

This is what I'm thinking. Since it's likely that no one else will respond, I'm runnin' with it.[pP]>throne maker v2

I'm with Jurvis. [pP]>throne maker v2
The radio transmitter can be nice, because it doesn't have to be attached to the console by a wire, but it's a pain in the ass to reset it whenever you go through an area where there's a station on the frequency you've been using. [pP]>throne maker v2
Also, both a tape player adapter and the car lighter adapter are really nice things to just keep in the car. [pP]>throne maker v2

Agreed. In this fashion music is endlessly enjoyed.[pP]>throne maker v2

Done. I bought the thing today, and it's shipping to NY (our departure point). Thanks for the advice.[pP]>throne maker v2

Also of note is the fact that, for a long time, we had both an iTrip and a cassette adapter, and we never used the iTrip.[pP]>throne maker v2
Also, if you format your iPod, you have to find the cd with all of the "songs" that program your iPod to transmit on different frequencies, or it will only play on one radio station.[pP]>throne maker v2
